Christina Hoff Sommers: A Feminist??

A former philosophy professor, Sommers is known for her critique of modern feminism. She holds a B.A. from New York University and a Ph.D. in philosophy from Brandeis University.

I have to admit that I didn’t know a whole lot about her until I saw an interview of her on Youtube. So I did a bit of research on her stances on feminist issues:

• In her article “The Equal Pay Day Reality Check” she states that the claim that American women as a group face systemic wage discrimination is groundless.
• In her article “The UN Women’s Treaty” she states that the ratification of the UN Women’s Treaty will not improve the well-being of women around the world.
• In her article “Take Back Feminism” she states that the world needs a responsible, reality-based women’s movement.
• In her book titled The War Against Boys, she states that there is no girl crisis; girls are outperforming boys academically, and girls’ self-esteem is no different from boys’.

Here’s a news flash for Ms. Summers: Women DO receive less than men. This is a FACT. 77 cents to every mans dollar. Feminism IS a reality-based movement that fights for the rights of women and serves to empower them in every way possible. And last but not least, THERE IS A GIRLS CRISIS. If girls self-esteem is no worse than boys then why is it that 85-90% of eating disorder victims are women??

Christina Hoff Sommers a feminist?? I think not. Christina Hoff Sommers= an ANTIFEMINIST.
