Indie Artist of the Week: Brandi Carlile

Okay, so she’s not really indie anymore… but hey, she used to be! And, even with her major record label contract, a lot of people still haven’t heard her stuff (although more people are starting to as she is becoming increasingly more popular).

She’s a great LGBT role model as well (she’s an identified lesbian), what with her amazing charity organization (The Looking Out Foundation) in which she funds a wide variety of projects including Reverb, Honor The Earth, The American Diabetes Association, and many local charity organizations in her home town (Seattle).

Her music style is very diverse, ranging from folk to rock to bluegrass/country. She is my favorite singer/songwriter to date, and has been for the past few years.

Recommended songs: All!

Recommended album: The Story

A rare performance of Calling All Angels with her sister Tiffany:
