Definition: passive-aggressive hetero man who is refused sex despite being a "nice guy" while his male counterparts (allegedly not "nice guys") "get" sex despite treating women badly.
Rape and the Nice Guy:
The nice guy who claims he did everything "right": opened doors, treated his lady with respect, but, when it came time for him to acquire his prize, it was refused him. The nice guy then turns to rape as his only option.
In his article "Toward a Performance Model of Sex" Thomas Macaulay Millar states:
"The combination of passive-aggressiveness, entitlement, and the certainty that sex is a commodity leads the nice guy to argue, in all seriousness, that rape is caused because nice guys seek sex but are rejected, and rape is their reaction to unfair rejection."
The problems:
- the sexist view of hetero sex: women guard it; men try to acquire it
- reinforcement of patriarchal sex roles: men seen as the pursuer; females the pursued
- rape apology
- heteronormative
- You are never entitled to sex from anyone, no matter how "nicely" you treat them
- It doesn't matter who else is "getting" sex
- The fact that you treated someone nicely does not entitle you to rape them
