Indie Artist of the Week: Edie Carey

Another acoustic guitar based singer songwriter that I am in love with.

A former English major, Edie always had a love of the written word. It wasn’t until college when she witnessed acoustic coffee shop performances that she realized how much more powerful words are with music. She then picked up the acoustic guitar and started putting her words to music.

Check out one of my all time fav songs (“If I Start To Cry”):

I actually found out about Rose Cousins through Edie Carey—the two often perform together, as seen below, another of my favorite songs (“The Night”):

Indie Artist of the Week: Ellen Lerner

Ellen Lerner is a piano-based singer/songwriter from Phillie. With her soothing voice, emotional lyrics and talented piano playing, Ellen is quite a gem. I’d like to hear more from her in the future.

Listen to some of her music by visiting her myspace page.

Recommended songs: Temporary Fan Club, Not The One To Blame, Early November, Motherless Child, Ode To Dick And Jane.

Be sure to see her live if you live in the phillie area. You can also check out her website here.
